Dear
Fellow Legionnaires, I just want to take opportunity to thank all of for the generous care package (gift card) that
I received from the Post on behalf of the members... It means a lot to all the service members to know that we are
not forgotten by people back home... It even means more when people you know keep in contact with us. Once again thank you
very much the generous gift, it went to good use. Now an update from Abu Ghraib, Iraq... First of all it is hot as
hell here, it's July and it has been as high as 130 degrees but the average has been around 120... Can't wait for August!
I have been here about 7 months; more then half way home... Should be coming home around Christmas... Our mission
here is Detainee Operations... We are the Theater Intermint Facility for all of Iraq, along with Camp Bucca in Southern Iraq...
We have some pretty bad people that we keep here so it makes our mission that much more important to the overall success
of the war here in Iraq... Since I have been here we have had one complex attack on the FOB... We received over 70
mortars that 2 April night... The battle went on for about 3 hours, no serious injuries to any US personnel... We were able
to keep the insurgents from breaching the exterior wall; it was a great day for us here at Abu Ghraib... We do continue to
take mortars rounds along with Rocket Attacks on a pretty regular basis... It keeps us on our toes... I hope you and your
families are having a wonderful summer… I’m attaching a couple of pictures… Jim James J. Lamberson SSG,
